This can be done many different ways and should be one of your primary goals when working or trying to work online. The reason I say try is 97% of all online businesses that begin online fail.

As I travel among the ranks of successful online business owners to working with and around utter failures in the online world I notice a big difference. I was actually quite surprised when I discovered everyone under the sun knows the successful business owners within a niche if they themselves are attempting to gain prestige in that niche.

Also if you type in the name of the successful business owner you will notice that the number of sites with their name within the content usually go into the thousands and of course social networking being some of the highest ranking sites out of the sites which have the person’s name within the content.

Why do you think that these successful business owners have so many different social presences. Well it is actually quite simple since the reason they became famous usually consists of getting their message or plan in front of as many people as possible.

One of the strongest things in an internet marketing pro’s toolbox is the web 2.0 making it very easy to build thousands upon thousands of different presences, selling points, and overall branding which will turn prospective traffic into actual buyers very good for anyone wanting to stay home.

So if you are wondering why people are not talking about you or why you are not considered an expert within your niche think about how many different ways you have extended your reach and exposure across the web. Does your company have a facebook page, myspace page, and twitter account. If they don’t you better get one for each then link to it from your website or blog.

Social networking is not the only part of the Web 2.0 that you should be attempting to take advantage of when in your online career. Start a blog and if you already have a blog then start another. Do not only start a blog to gain backlinks if you really want to take advantage of the blogosphere then it is a good idea to have tons of blogs all of which you add excellent well thought out content and all of course is closely related to your niche.

Once you have all of these blogs and they begin gaining authority it is time to constantly link them to any web presence you would like to see do good. Right now I carry 7 blogs all of which have PR and all of which if I needed/wanted would post a shameful plug. So expand your presence by using social networking and breaking or expanding into the blogosphere.
