Finding out what they are queueing for – Part 1

Why do we want to know what buyers are buying? because it maximises the return on investment (ROI). It also reduces the risk of creating a something for which there is no “queue at the counter for” we need lots of of buyers. We want money easily.

Let me very briefly explain tapping into a Niche better so that you understand why ROI and the WA members area tools are  is so important.

The WA members can be aggressively entrepreneurial in nature. and at the same time WA Members also possess an extremely efficient mindset.

Finding out what they are queueing for – Part 2

Have you visited a website called Clickbank? It’s a website that specializes in selling products such as software, e-Books, and similar items that can be digitally delivered.

There’s a reasonable chance you may have already heard about them, but even if you have, I want you to use Clickbank as a free product popularity research tool. Specifically, I want you to use the marketplace located under the “Promote Products” tab on their website, as shown in this screen capture:

It’s extremely important that you conduct your research under the “Promote Products” section of the Clickbank website, because that section contains extremely useful data that we will use to our advantage, as  you will see below.

There are currently 9 basic categories within the Clickbank marketplace (under Promote Products), as you can see here:

Each of those 9 categories is filled with hundreds, if not thousands of different products. Many of those products are digital information products in the form of e-Books and/or e-Courses.

Lets pick a massive niche,  let’s look at what’s inside the Health & Fitness category. Here is a clip of a screen shot of the top 4 products within that particular category:

The first two are focused on weight loss. The third is about, of all things, yeast infections (presumably vaginal yeast infections – but maybe not, we’re not sure at this point). The fourth is about anxiety and panic attacks. That means 50% of the top 4 products are focused on helping people lose weight.

We can now draw some interesting preliminary conclusions about what products buyers within the Health & Fitness category are willing to spend money on. This is key. We want to target people who are willing to spend money! It’s not good enough that people merely be interested in a topic. People need to be willing to spend money, too!

The listings within each of the 9 ClickBank marketplace categories (under the Promote Products tab) are organized by popularity. We won’t get  into the techie stuff yet… Just accept as “done” that if a product is showing up somewhere in the top 4 spots within any given ClickBank marketplace category, it’s making a killing!!.

You can take this exact same approach (as we just took with the Health & Fitness category) with the other Clickbank marketplace categories to get a quick sense of what people are actually spending money on. This is crucial. You never consider marketing something without knowing what people are buying.

There are other places to figure out what people are buying, such as eBay.com and Amazon.com – both of which have massive inventories of products of all kinds.

Let’s start with eBay… did you know that there is a special section on eBay where you can see what’s popular? It’s called eBay Pulse. This is a cropped screen shot of the “All Categories” section:

Aside from people interested in paper clip chains and the hair of Britney Spears, the overwhelming majority of searches appear to be concentrated on game systems such as the Nintendo Wii and the Play Station. In addition, there is a healthy interest in Apple iPod’s, too.

You may be wondering why this information would be of value to us, because it’s not like we’re going to try and market products that people are not buying! so let’s dig a little bit deeper into eBay Pulse to see what we discover.

In particular, let’s go to the “Everything Else” category, and then select the “Information Products” sub-category. When we do that, this is what we are presented with:

This is proper cool, especially when we cross reference some of what’s presented in this list with ClickBank – which just happens to be a major seller of information products!

et’s start by looking at the most popular information product search term listed on eBay  “wholesale”.

The word by itself doesn’t tell us much, but when we click on the link from within eBay Pulse, you get the following auctions info this is a cropped screen shot again:

At first glance, the pictures would make it seem as though what’s being sold are wholesale lots of of TiVo’s, sneakers, mini-bikes, laptops, and PDA’s…. but look again! There is one word that all five of these auctions have in common. It’s the word wholesale list!

And if you drill down a little bit deeper, and click on the link for the very first item listed (TiVo), you’ll see this:

Cool eh!
