WA Members Email Lists: Who Do You Trust

I received 2 emails yesterday about buying email lists, one from a wealthy affiliate member and one from (not wanting to name names lets just say) another internet training program. Let me tell you straight off that no matter who tells you what, at the end of the day you have to make a decision on who do you trust: I’m going to outline the two emails below.

1st email: Don’t buy an email list…

Buying an email list is usually a sure way to pay money for nothing. The basic flow of things is that there are companies that harvest emails from all sorts of places, most of these emails are very old and may not even be in use, they are packeged up ad then sold as emal lists. There are alternatives stated the email .

I followed through and clicked the link, I landed on a blog, I got some good information about how to find a partner in your niche circle and basically to ask if they would allow you to place an add in their email list, you offer a fee to the list owner and the relative link to your squeeze page for your complementing offer …You are able to build a list of your own whilst sending your offer to someone else’s  targeted subscriber list..

2nd email: No mailing list:  No problem…

This email was stating that it’s too hard and long to build a list… Tired of hearing that you need a mailing list of your own to succeed online? I can’t blame you. After all, building a list is hard work and takes time!
* It takes TRAFFIC to build a list of your own
* You need a WEBSITE to build your own list
* It takes a LONG TIME to build a list!

It promised me 1000’s of targeted email addresses, in any niche it. Much further on in the email they went on to say “I could rent a list. “

Umm I wondered if the link would lead me to more great info, it led me to a squeeze page, with one eyebrow raised I entered my email address then I was sent to a PDF that spoke about the power of ezine marketing, The bottom line was I should buy advertising in ezine directory’s. Then there was an upsell to another ebook.

Which method do I trust?

Well the way I see it the first email offered value with nothing to buy and methods that were fresh and honest.  The second email gave me nothing a affiliate marketer doesn’t already know, ‘article marketing works to drive traffic’. Plus it suggested I rent advertising space and also buy his ebook

Building a element of trust is what the list is about you must always offer value, only that will keep me on one of those email lists and certainly encourage me to unsubscribe from the other.

“Folksonomies” – a New Viral Marketing Tool

A new consumer phenomenon is called “tagging” or “folksonomies” (short for folks and taxonomy).

ipod_books_and_stuff.wamembersareaTagging is powerful because consumers are creating an organizational structure for online content. Folksonomies not only enable people to file away content under tags, but, even better, share it with others by filing it under a global taxonomy that they created.

Here’s how tagging works. Using sites such as del.icio.us – a bookmark sharing site – and Flickr – a photo sharing site – consumers are collaborating on categorizing online content under certain keywords, or tags.

For instance, an individual can post photographs of their iPod on Flickr and file it under the tag “iPod.” These images are now not only visible under the individual user’s iPod tag but also under the community iPod tag that displays all images consumers are generating and filing under the keyword.

Right now Flickr has more than 3,500 photos that are labeled “iPod.”

Tagging is catching on because it is a natural complement to search. Type the word “blogs” into Google and it can’t tell if you are searching for information about how to launch a blog, how to read blogs, or just what. Large and small sites alike are already getting on to the folksonomy train. They are rolling out tag-like structures to help users more easily locate content that’s relevant to them.
